Assessing Videos
I would have given this video a level 2. There is a range of shots used, controlled camera shots and a variety of shot sizes. Also there is some attention to the mise en scene. How ever in my opinion, this music video does not appeal to me. There is very little lip syncing and when there is it is not very clear. Also the story/video is unclear, the shots move too quickly. In some videos the shots moving quickly can work well, but, as this song is not a very upbeat song, the video does not go too well with the song. Also there are too many effects linking each shot which too makes the video unclear.
I would have given this video between a high level 3 or a low level 4. The lip syncing looks very realistic and there is a wide range of shots. It is also very clear as to what is going on in each shot and throughout the whole video. There is a variet of shots but it is all set in one room, I think this video could have had a bit more of a story to it and used a wider range of scenes to show a better narrative.
Out of the three videos we watched this music video was my favourite one. The students used a large range of shots, and the camera work is to a high standard. The lighting is quite dark in some areas but they make this seem like part of the theme. The shots, lighting and effects are all very well planned and thought about. Overall i would give this video a level 4.
